Gift Ideas for Book Lovers + Giveaway (Closed)!

Happy Happy Sunday! πŸ’– I recently finished my second week of classes at university, and I’m already a growing ball of stress. πŸ˜‚ BUT! I’ve decided to channel that stressful energy to excitement. September is my birthday month, and I thought it’d be fun to share some amazingly wonderful gift ideas for the book lovers in your life.

1. Books, Books, and More Books giphy.gif

This is pretty self-explanatory, right? πŸ˜‰πŸ“š Bibliophiles love to read, and it always makes us super happy to know that our friends and family support our passion. When you buy a book for a book lover, you’re cheering them on to read more. However, I highly recommend that you buy a book that suits their tastes. Try looking at their Goodreads’s “Want to Read” list, or snoop around their bookshelf to see what genres and authors they enjoy the most. πŸ’ž Books (+ shipping) can be pretty expensive, especially if your book lover lives internationally, so sending a book their way can go a long way.

2. A Kindleamazon-kindle-paperwhite-2015-in-hand-1500x1000

This is pretty similar to the idea of a physical books. However, I thought that it deserved its own explanation because, in my opinion, a Kindle is one of the best long-term investments you can grant a book lover. πŸ“–πŸ“± I’ve had my Kindle for almost 9 years, and it’s still one of my best purchases of all time. A Kindle is a personal library in the palm of your hand. I’ve shared many reasons in the past why I love e-books, and I always tell people that if you have the money to spend, it’s okay to splurge on this durable, portable, and adorable piece of technology. #NotSponsored #ButIShouldBe

3. Candles, Mugs, & Bookmarks

You might be wondering...why are these 3 items grouped together? That’s because they all fall under the category of items that book lovers can use while reading. 🍡 I always love relaxing with a warm cup of tea, rose-scented candle, and my latest read. ☁🌺 Even though I’m a big advocate of e-books, I still love collecting cute bookmarks. I started using them for my college textbooks too! Other useful gadgets include a reading light or nice pens for annotating.

4. Potential Props

If your book lover is on bookstagram or just loves being artsy in general, they’ll appreciate any fun trinkets that can spice up a picture. πŸ“Έ This can be fairy lights and fake flowers. It could be a beautiful tapestry or wall art. This is also a great way to support your book lover’s friends in the book blogging community by buying their merchandise on RedBubble or Society6. πŸ› My personal favorite designs are by AimeeAlways and PaperFury.

5. Fandom Merchandise pexels-photo-1005012.jpeg

Sometimes when we read a book we want to feel a part of its world. 🌎 There’s a reason why your book lover might identify as a Slytherin or Ravenclaw. When we read a great book, it leaves a mark in our hearts and weaves into our identity. βœ¨ Whether its socks, scarfs, lanyards, or sweaters, we love showing support for our favorite authors, stories, and heroes.

(Bonus) An Experience!

There’s nothing better than sharing a passion you love with a person you love. πŸ’– Take your book lover to a bookstore, an author signing, or a trip to Harry Potter world! Spend some quality time with your book lover, and let them show you why they are passionate about reading.

  1. I love receiving book gifts that has a written letter on the front. I really do I feel like it’s more personal. But actually anything goes as long as the people gave them didn’t feel forced to hahaha πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

Lovely list by the way, you hit the nail with this, the bookstagram props are much needed lately. I don’t get much bookish swags and merch. It’s usually from events but I rarely go there now. Again lovely list! ❀

    1. Ohhh yes! I love when people write a personal letter because it feels more special than just a gift ❀ Thank you so much for liking my list! I know it's pretty generic, but I feel like it's a great overall idea of the things we might like ^_^

  2. These are such a good idea for book lovers! Even though I don’t have anyone around me to give these kind of things (because they are not into books) I’ll just gonna spend it on myself πŸ˜‚ Or maybe one day I’ll give this to some of my bookish friends on the internet πŸ˜† And ohhh a giveway! I’m so gonna join that πŸ‘€

  3. YES to all the gifts you mentioned in your post but especially to getting more books haha. I also like it when people give me gift cards because I can pick out books that are at the top of my tbr. And I totally agree with you that a Kindle is a great investment! I got mine as a birthday gift from my parents and I take it everywhere with me.

    1. Yes!! I love getting gift cards, so I have the power to choose the books I want πŸ˜‰ I have one close bookish friend IRL so it’s great when we give each other physical books as a nice surprise too. I’m so happy that you love your Kindle ❀ It's honestly so underrated! (jk probably not but i just love my Kindle so much and the Kindle app :3 )

  4. HOORAY FOR BOOKISH GIFTS! β™₯ Since me and my friends are students, we don’t usually give each other gifts, and my parents opt to give me cash. πŸ˜‚ My dad bought me a Kindle a few years ago, and it was my best friend for maybe 3-4 years, until the battery died forever, and I don’t live in the US so fixing it would probably cost as much as buying a new one. 😭 I read on my phone now, which is still okay with me. πŸ’•

    *whispers* Advanced happy birthday!!

    1. OH NO!! I hope you can get a new Kindle sometime, but I also agree that the Kindle app is amazing ❀ My Kindle doesn't have a backlight, so I can't read in bed at night which is why I use my phone. :3 I hope you were given some great gifts for your birthday Aimee ^_^ (or use the cash to buy yourself lots of books)

    1. YAY! I currently have the 2nd generation Kindle, but I would DEFINITELY recommend the Paperwhite. Once my Kindle breaks down, I’m going to buy that one for sure πŸ˜‰ The backlight makes it amazing, and it’s more small and portable.

  6. Such a wonderful post, filled with great ideas! ❀ I always love getting books as a book lover haha and getting my e-reader a couple years ago as a gift was one of the best gifts ever ❀ I'd also want to buy and support more of my favorite bloggers by getting some of their awesome designs at some point πŸ™‚ and mugs, oh. I have too many mugs, but I can't stoppppppp haha.
Congratulations again on the followers and happy early birthday!!! ❀ ❀

  7. I love getting books but I rarely do besides the times my sister gives me money and is like ‘order yourself a book’ πŸ˜€

I’d love to get bookish candle too but unfortunately shipping is too costly to even buy one for myself.

  8. Ooh, these are all good ideas! I got myself an “experience” sort of– I’m going to a book signing the weekend before my birthday and I’m FANGIRLING because it’s Marie Lu. *screams eternally* I have to agree on the Kindle being a really good investment, because they do last a long time and honestly save SO MUCH PHYSICAL SPACE. It’s great!

  9. What a great post idea! I think you list some really great ideas – especially love the kindle suggestion because it’s like holding a million books in your hands ALL AT THE SAME TIME. I think will just subtly send this post over to my hubby…not because of any reason in particular of course….hahah πŸ™‚ Thanks for a great post!

    1. Thank you!! Haha I hope he follows some of these ideas then πŸ˜‰ I was hesitant at first to list Kindle because I know it’s out of a lot of people’s price range, but I really think it’s a great investment to save for if you’re a big reader. ❀ Thank you so much for your kind words~
