Birthday Book Tag

In less than 24 hours, it will be my birthday. 🎉🍰 Happy Tiffany Day! In honor of my 20th birthday, I thought it was appropriate to do the Birthday Book Tag which I found over on Sha’s blog, Moonlight Pages. Let’s begin!

Birthday Cake 🎂 A Book With A Plot That Seems Cliché But You Adore It Anyway.

vampire-academyVampire Academy by Richelle Mead. Even though this book has the cringest title and cover, I still loved the cliche vampire romance in this series and its sequel series, Bloodlines. 🙈 I loved the whole idea of vampire guardians, and Rose Hathaway was such a bada**. It sucks that the movie couldn’t do the book justice, but VA and Bloodlines will always be favorites. Sydney Sage is such a role model. 👌

Party Guests 🥂 Your Most Anticipated Book Release This Year.

Kingdom of Ash by Sarah J Maas. 33590260This is such an easy question for me to answer. 😂 If you didn’t know, I read the Throne of Glass series earlier this year, and I absolutely fell in love with it. The characters were so easy to love, and the plot took off in such a unique and breathtaking way by the third book. I can’t wait to see how everything comes together in the final book! #MyHeartIsNotReady 💔

Birthday Presents 🎁 A Book That Surprised You with how Much You Loved It.

20698530 P.S. I Still Love You by Jenny Han. I decided to reread this series after I heard of the To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before movie release, but I had low expectations because I didn’t particularly enjoy the first book when I first read it a few years ago. 💌 Surprisingly, I really liked the book the second time around, and its sequel blew me away. Check out my reviews for the first two books in the series: To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before and P.S. I Still Love You.

The Happy Birthday Song 🎵 A Book That Certainly Deserved All The Hype It Got.

Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo. E23437156ven though I was gifted this book, it still took me a long time to finally pick it up. BUT! Once I started reading I was immediately blown away by the fantastic plotline and sophisticated world-building. 😱 Kaz Brekker is an absolute genius, and Leigh Bardugo’s mastermind writing deserves so much praise.

Happy Music 😊 A Book With Some Very Beautiful And Truly Memorable Quotes.

The Astonishing Colorhttps_images.gr-assets.combooks1516893525l35604686 of After by Emily X.R. Pan. This book was so beautifully written I could cry. 😭 The colorful description of emotions and the wonderful cultural representation of Taiwan made every scene touch my heart. As a Taiwanese American myself, I couldn’t be happier with this book!

Getting Older ✨ A Book That You Read A Long Time Ago, But You Think That You Would Appreciate It More If You Read It As A More Mature Reader.

This is a vague answer, but it’s definitely the required readings I had in High School English. ✏ Like most people, I didn’t particularly love reading Shakespeare and other classics. I thought they were very well written and meaningful, but I wasn’t the most enthusiastic to read them. If I read them now, I would probably have a better understanding and appreciation of the books, especially if I read them of my own volition.

Sweet Birthday Memories 💖 A Book That Kept You Incredibly Happy During A Sad Or Demanding Period Of Your Life.

2209145_origPercy Jackson and The Olympians series by Rick Riordan. I grew up reading about Percy and Annabeth’s adventures, and the entire series holds a special place in my heart because it spurred my love for reading and kept me company when I started at a new school. ⚡ I knew that if Percy could survive dangerous missions and defeat the Titans, I could get through high school. (Art by Viria)

What is your most anticipated release this year? Do you have a favorite flavor of cake? Let me know in the comments! 💕

  1. YAAAAS GIRL ALMOST THERE!! 🎂🎉💕 Also super happy to see Vampire Academy here–this series is crazy cliche, but the characters are so amazing that I got attached to them all very quickly! And Percy Jackson keeps me happy to this day. I love rereading my favorite scenes when I’m in a not-so-great mood. 😊

    1. AHH IM OLD!! (That’s going to be you some day girlie) I definitely think VA doesn’t get enough love in the YA community, but it was such a fun book to read! The Bloodlines series was my favorite too. I remember Percy being your award winning character 😉 and I can DEFINITELY understand why. He’s so loveable and kickass and ~amazing~ I’ve been listening to some of the audiobooks because the narrator for him is really good!

Thank you for all the well wishes ❤ 🙂

    1. hehe thank you Dezzy!! My birthday was wonderful, and I’m celebrating with my friends later in the week 😍I hope you do this tag some time because it was really fun!

I have yet to find a series as great and holistic as PJO, so let me know if you ever find something similar!

  2. Ohhh! I agree with the Vampire Academy. Of all the series I read this came out a total surprise for me. I wasn’t interested in reading it at all. But a friend met up with me and I had no idea he brought for me 😂😂.

About the Astonishing I really need to get into that soon I hope. And yes yes Six of Crows! And most of all Percy Jackson will always be a personal fav.

Okay, sending my birthday wishes all the way from the Philippines 💗💗 (it’s never too early it already is the 17th here hehehe)

    1. ❤ hehe thank you for all your love!

VA was definitely a pleasant surprise! I didn't know if I would like it, especially based on the weird cover and title, but it was so good! Have you read the Bloodlines series? The Astonishing Color of After was so beautiful ❤ I would recommend the audiobook if it's available because it helped me get through it.

    1. Aww thank you Brianna ❤ We are now 20-twins!! It feels sooo weird, but it also doesn't feel the most exciting because most of my friends are turning 21!

I am SO excited for you to read SoC. I've heard that it's way better 😍 I can't wait to hear your thoughts!

    1. Ahhh Thank you Elizabeth!! I’m so lucky to have friends like you here ❤ OMG I actually shipped Celaena with Chaol from the beginning, but I'm glad that she has Rowan now. I definitely appreciate Chaol a lot more after reading Tower of Dawn!! I just can't wait for the grand reunion. I need another SoC/PJO series in my life ❤
