Monthly Wrap-Up: September 2018

AHHH!! September flew by! 😱 Classes have started, and I’m starting to feel the heavy workload. Still, September has always been one of my favorite months because it’s a time of reunion with friends over food 💖🍴 , the weather gets cooler 🍂🌥, and it’s my birthday month! 🎉🍰

My life right now has been consumed by school. ✏ I love the classes that I’m taking, but they’re definitely more challenging than my classes during freshman and sophomore year. I just finished taking 2 exams this week, and now, I’m preparing for 2 more next week. 😢giphy.gifOn the bright side, I celebrated my birthday! I went out to eat with my friends, and I finally decided to upgrade from my 8-year-old Kindle and buy myself a Kindle Paperwhite. In addition to having wonderful friends in real life, I’m blessed with such amazing friends in the bookish community. Thank you to everyone who wished me a Happy Birthday! 😊

I’m actually super proud that I’ve been able to read this month with school being so hectic. I listened to 3 audiobooks and read 5 books, putting me at 65/25 of my Goodreads Reading Challenge. 📚Screen Shot 2018-10-04 at 4.44.15 PM.pngI decided to finish the ARC I started and considered DNF-ing last month, but I still didn’t love it. On the other hand, I LOVED all the other books I finished—special shout out for The Astonishing Color of After and Second Chance Summer. 😍

This month I discovered the amazingness of ~mini-reviews~. They’re so perfect because they help me knock out a bunch of reviews in my backlog, and they take less time for me to put my thoughts onto paper screen. 💖 Still, I’m realizing that most of my posts lately have been reviews, so hopefully, I can branch more into discussion posts in the upcoming months!

  2. Lovely review! Firstly, good luck with all your exams!! I’m sure you’ll do great! (Since you live in SoCal, what college do you go to? Just out of random curiosity haha)

Secondly, super happy to see that you liked A Thousand Perfect Notes and Second Chance Summer! Both are on my tbr! ❤️

Thirdly, it’s really nice to hear that someone else didn’t enjoy Perfect Harmony! I thought I was the only one who wasn’t a fan!

    1. Thanks Kelly!! I live in Pasadena area when I’m home, but I go to school Washington University in St Louis ❤ Are you in HS or college?? and what year are you if you don't mind me asking 🙈

PLEASEEEE read A Thousand Perfect Notes and Second Chance Summer. Both are so amazing ^_^

I think Perfect Harmony had some serious potential but it was just sooo predictable 😒There were so many cliches that I just couldn't love it. 😦

      1. Oh okay! I actually go to college in Pasadena! ❤ I'm 17, but have been taking classes here since I was 15, so I nearly have my AA degree. 🙂

I want to read both of those novels so badly! The former is on my fall tbr. I'm hoping to get to it fairly soon! ❤

There was so much potential in Perfect Harmony, but the cliche characters and romance really ruined some of the story for me. :/

      2. That’s amazing!! ❤ So you've been taking college classes since you were 15?? Where do you go? I think it's incredible how you're able to balance school and blogging, especially because you post so often. :O

I've been really wanting to read more ARCs, but I gave PH a 1 star LMAO so I doubt I'll be given more 😦

      3. Aww thanks, doll! ❤️ Pasadena City College! Just working through my GEs and prerequisites right now!

I ended up giving PH 2 stars. I think my average Netgalley rating is probably around 2 or 3 stars, so I don’t know how that will affect my chances of getting ARCs!

    1. Thanks Olivia ❤ I love your blog so much, so Of course, I'm going to share your posts 😉 Order of the Phoenix was a crazyyyy long book, but it was really good! I think Goblet of Fire or Half Blood Prince are my favorites. What's your Hogwarts house??

      Have a wonderful October~ ^_^

    1. Thanks Dezzy!! Fingers crossed for both of us this exam period ❤ You got this! I believe in you ^_^ I'm really loving the Paperwhite because it's so easy to read, but I actually listened to The Astonishing Color of After via audiobook. I thought it was really great! I'm actually Taiwanese American too, and I think the book did a phenomenal job with representation and just everything in general~

      1. Aww thank you so much, Tiffany! 💞 I really appreciate your support. I’m also doing college apps rn, on top of my regular schoolwork, so it’s been pretty stressful. 😅 And that’s amazing to hear! I’m glad the Taiwanese American rep was great for you. I’m Chinese American, and I’m really excited to read this now. 😍

  4. The workload of school hit me hard in September, too, but luckily once October came by things started to cool down 😊 I hope you’re able to find a good balance between school & blogging, though — that’s almost been the toughest thing for me, because I always want to do so much but run out of time. Best of luck with your courses & writing! 😊
