Subtle Asian Book Club: February 2020 Selection

Welcome back to another post for “subtle asian book club”, a book club centered around reading books written by Asian authors! Alexandra from Twirling Pages and I are super excited to announce this month’s choice, especially because it’s one of my personal favorites. 💓

What is “subtle asian book club”?

Named after the popular meme page  “subtle asian traits”, our book club brings together readers all around the world to buddy read a new book every month. ✨ Also, please note that members DO NOT have to be Asian to join! If you’re interested in joining, simply send a request on the Facebook group.

I hope you’re excited and are interested in joining!  Don’t worry if you are afraid that you can’t commit to reading every month. Feel free to join and comment whenever you are available because this book club is meant to be flexible to fit your schedule.

Book of the Month

This month, we’re starting the year off by reading Loveboat, Taipei by Abigail Hing Wen, a New York Times Bestseller and one of my personal favorites.  😍 We will have weekly discussions and monthly wrap-ups posted on the Facebook group, and we’ll have voting for next month’s book in two to three weeks!

The reading schedule is as follows:

  • 2/1 – 2/8: Chapters 1 to 10
  • 2/9 – 2/15: Chapters 11 to 20
  • 2/16 – 2/22: Chapters 21 to 30
  • 2/23 – 2/29: Chapters 31 to Epilogue

Trigger/Content Warnings: drinking, sex, friendship betrayal (reconciled), depressed and suicidal side character, abusive relationship, abusive parent (off-page), leaked nude

If you’re interested in reading my review of the book (which I adored with all my heart) , click on the button below!

  1. I’m so excited for this book! I’ve been thinking about it, even after reading the ARC of the book. I’d be joining in this month since I just love this book so much! And very thankful that my library came through and got a copy just in time.
